Oxford

We spent the last four days (and Ollie‘s first 1069 miles) driving to and then around Oxfordshire.

It was very beautiful, which I expected.

not my photo.

And quite posh and snobby, which I also expected.

But after a couple of days I also found lots of other, quirkier things that make me think I might really like it.

Like shredded duck and spicy mustard curry at Aziz – a worthy owner of Britain’s Best Curry titles.

And the purplest mosque I have ever seen.

And nearby villages with names like Kingston Bagpuize and (I kid you not) Horton-cum-Studley.

No wonder British people have an amazing sense of irony, sarcasm and a fondness for riding-crop-inspired romance novels.

Needless to say, it was a very big adventure. And fittingly, the perfect addition to my Thirty Things #27: Go on a Road Trip.

What do you think?
