Things I Love

It’s raining cats and dogs. Again.

They say it’s the worst summer on record (and the Queen’s Garden Party was definitely a damp squib).

The wet weather has drowned a large portion of puffin hatchlings, wiped out the breeding season for the already struggling butterfly population, and hit farmers hard. The season of bounty this is not.

BUT, I hear it’s bound to get better. So to lighten up grey skies, here are some things that make me shiny-happy.

How to Draw a Penguin by Oliver Jeffers

Unusual Words, beautifully designed

Enantiodromia is a very interesting word. Hamartia is wonderfully rendered.

The Project Twins are very clever.

Cosmic by Frank Cottrell Boyce

We read bedtime stories in our house. It’s a nice way to unwind, even for grown-ups . It all started with serious, adult things but right now we are reading the book I give to every dad in my acquaintance.

Sure, it’s aimed at 9 year olds. That only makes it better, trust me.

Stop Motion Antics

Claymation fish in a bowl of noodles. What’s not to love?
