Things I Like — Natural Hair

The trend for silvery locks, and my own graceful decent into gray, have only reinforced what I’ve always known: natural hair = best.

There’s a long tradition of normalising flowing Anglo hair-types; of color defining social standing or intelligence; of stigmatising the wiriness of erratic grays as a lack of vitality inside, too.

Ugly things which insist other people get a say in how you look and who you are and how that works.

I call bullshit.

Love your locks. Your dreads. Your bald patches. Love YOU from the very top of your head on down.

I love you just the way you came. I love you if you want to rock a raging pink mohawk. Just own it and love it, and don’t hide.
